Drive there-no blizzard, enough said.
Apple, Alli, Alyx, Paul, and myself arrive in Baton Rouge via Saab at approximately 1pm. The minivan, carrying Greenwood, Kane, Michelle C & R, Bryn, Ham, Jen are already hanging around the parking lot drinking. I finally get to eat at Popeyes chicken. Several hours of parking lot partying ensue while we wait for the guys to get ready to go, they're so high maintainence. Jen gets a disc stuck on the hotel roof, very embarrassing - a couple ihucs get it down with a pool skimmer, very entertaining. Nobody wants to take the initiative to gather everyone up, very frustrating, we FINALLY leave at 5:15pm.
Very bad traffic, Michelle Cartier does a steller job driving. I also stay sober due to mono related causes. 10 minutes into the trip, everyone has to pee very badly. The drunk girls have someone talked into urinating in a pretzal bag..this somehow seems like a good idea to them. We stop at a gas station instead. One more bathroom break, a couple wrong turns, and 3 hours later we get downtown. We ditch the Ihuc van (including Apple and Greenwood) and pay 20 dollars for parking..worth it.
We see lots of creepy old dudes with video cameras and nasty titties. I kiss Alyx for beads, which we don't get, and then she starts shouting that I just gave her mono, we still don't get the beads. Ham picks up a boy toy from Paul's team. Applehead meets a sober Canadian who she is convinced is the love of her life..if anyone remembers his name, please tell her. Alyx ends up with the most beads, congrats. There was also a Kid Rock sighting and Megan thinks she saw a professional wrestler as well. We head out around 11. Kane verbally assaults people in a Hummer on the walk back for ruining the environment. It only takes an hour to get back. Michelle R sleeps in the bathtub.
Saturday -
Mississipi doesn't show up for our first game.
2nd round - we lose to Oklahoma 4-11
3rd round - We beat Texas Christian University 11-5
4th round - bye We go eat some jumbalaya and watch the co-ed group play for a bit.
5th round - Charleston. These girls are the Southern version of us, similar attitude and quoting of Can I Have Your Number on the sidelines. We come back from three or four points behind and end up losing in universe. Still the best game of the day. We play a game of "Wah" after, Alli wins the vegetable walk-off with an amazing butternut squash.
Saturday night-We have a terrible waitress at Chilis and it takes forever. Everyone is too tired to go out. The few girls brave enough to go out get tricked into walking across the street to a rib shack by the gas station attendant who told them it was open 24 hours.
Sunday we started out the day against the Bella Donna's! It was, hmm.. a learning experience, as always. We held them for 50 minutes of play time, score 0-13
Game 2 was versus the Norte Dame women, we played really well and utilized the skills we've been learning in practice! We played some zone- the cup looked good but due to lack of subs we weren't able to keep it up the whole time. Zone-O looked good as well, we made a few upwinders. Final score was 8-13.
None of us were ready to leave the warm weather, but after a quick detour to the guys fields we embarked on our 15 hour drive back. Along the way Kane tried to break our minivan, but luckily Greenwood's dad gave some good advice and after a quick stop the van was back to normal. We returned safely to our lovely city around 5am on Monday morning!
